At Iron Antler Co., every knife tells a story. Behind the steel, the fire, and the grind is one man—our Bladesmith, Sam. Each handcrafted hunting knife that leaves our shop is forged with skill, grit, and a deep respect for the outdoors.
From Garage Beginnings to Professional Bladesmith
Sam grew up in Northern California, where his love for the outdoors began early. As a sophomore in high school, he started making knives in his dad’s garage with nothing more than a hacksaw and a file. That first spark of craftsmanship lit a fire that never went out. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a lifelong passion—creating tools that weren’t just functional but also works of art.
Firefighter, Outdoorsman, Craftsman
Since 2023, Sam has also been serving as a firefighter, balancing a demanding career with his commitment to handcrafting knives. Married to his wife, Ruthie, Sam prioritizes faith, family, and time spent outdoors. When he’s not at the firehouse or in the shop, you’ll find him hunting, camping, or enjoying the same backcountry lifestyle our customers live for.
His dual roles—first responder and bladesmith—add a layer of grit and purpose to everything he makes. Each knife is more than steel and G10; it’s a tool built to perform in the harshest conditions, made by someone who understands resilience firsthand.
Crafting Iron Antler Knives
Sam’s role at Iron Antler Co. is central. He forges every knife by hand using only USA-made, high-quality materials, from durable Cerakote-coated blades to rugged G10 handles. Each knife is slow made in small batches to ensure quality, consistency, and longevity.
Unlike mass-produced blades, our knives are made to order. That means each piece is carefully crafted with the outdoorsman in mind—whether you’re field dressing game, navigating rugged backcountry terrain, or carrying it as an everyday tool.
At Iron Antler, we believe the difference is in the hands that build it. And Sam’s hands are the ones that shape each blade from raw steel to a tool that can be passed down for generations.
